The cat scene was just too funny! :-)

I also felt very sorry for Matty, she was denied her happy ending a second time. I really liked how she was so affected by it that she changed her mind about Martha having a love interest. Martha was also a character I enjoyed. She and Jem made quite an interesting couple too!

That scene with Miss Matty is terrible… She was such a sweet lady and she really deserved some happiness.

Hi Dee! :)
Deborah is not easy to love, but even if she considered social rules essential, she also knew when to bend them and do the right thing, like the funeral of Jessie’s sister. She was also someone who learned from her mistakes, and later when we know more about Miss Matty’s past, I understood better Deborah’s enthusiasm when she was playing matchmaker between Jessie and Major Gordon. Her austerity also made more enjoyable to watch her listening to music or helping someone out, which she always did. Her death, brought many changes (and not all good) but I never felt that people was feeling overwhelmed by her sense of protocol. And then, I could never resist a grumpy person with a heart of gold and a very sharp sense of humor. ;-)

I’m not sure what episode it was in (the second?), but I just loved the scene with the lace bleaching. I chortled away with mirth. It was such an ‘earthy’ scene, and the poor men carrying the chair were hilarious.
On the opposite note, I was really sad for Maddy, and when she went to get her new bonnet, and said what she did, I have to admit that I had a small weep.

Alex, I didn’t really warm to Deborah so I wasn’t too distressed at the events. Especially when I had the idea that she was THE stickler in the village for protocol and with her gone it was like “well, what will they get up to now?”!

The clothes peggs scene must be one of my favorites in episode 3. I just love when the old gypsy lady tries to sell clothes peggs to Miss Pole (“ask your mistress dearie!” LOL)and later she runs away from her house with her silver plates, convinced someone wants to kill her. After trying to get refuge in Mrs. Jamison’s house, she finally arrives at Miss Matty’s and says that three men were going to attack her and “one has a hump!”. It’s hilarious!

I was so annoyed with the end of episode 2. I couldn’t believe it! My favorite character dies like that and 3 more episodes to go without her. Sigh! Totally unfair, if you ask me. :)
