Romola Garaï as the bubbly Emma Woodhouse. Her name is linked to many period dramas like Atonement, Angel, Daniel Deronda, Amazing Grace,…

Jonny Lee Miller as Mr. Knightley. He was already one of Jane Austen’s men, Mr. Bertram in the 1999 version of Mansfield Park.

Michael Gambon as Emma’s father, Mr. Woodhouse. Also a familiar face in the period drama world and we are sure he’ll make a wonderful annoying but sweet patriarch.

Jodhi May as Miss Taylor, Emma’s former governess. Daniel Deronda, The Last of Mohicans, Einstein and Eddington, The Other Boleyn Girl, Tipping the Velvet, The House of Mirth, Aristocrats, and many more are part of her very extended filmography.

Robert Bathurst as Mr Weston. Less known to us but he’s also a familiar face in period dramas like The House of Eliott, Poirot, Black Adder, Hornblower,…

Tamsin Grieg as Miss Bates. She was recently part of BBC Anne Frank mini-series, where she played Edith Frank.
Harriet Smith — Louise Dylan
Frank Churchill — Rupert Evans
Jane Fairfax — Laura Pyper
Mr Elton — Blake Ritson
Mrs Elton — Christina Cole

I didn’t know about this – how exciting! Can’t wait! I’m really enjoying the Little Dorrit miniseries airing on PBS right now. Can’t wait for part 3!

Lindsey, I loved Little Dorrit! I’ll have to rewatch it again one of these days. :)
I love all these people, but Romola Garai seems like an unusual choice for Emma to me. She is a great actress, though, so I’m sure she can do it.
I like the cast, a lot.
I am also loving Little Dorrit.
I didn’t like the dude that will play Mr. Knightley. I was hoping he would be palyed by Richard Armitage.
Oh, that would have been perfect!
Richard Armitage would make a perfect Mr. Knightley. He is very handsome and has a scowl that screams tender disapproval. Besides, who didn’t love him in North and South? Especially the train station scene.
Will be gorgeous. I like i a lot Jonny Lee Miller on Eli Stone.
But cant wait for Rupert Penry-Jones make another BBC serie.
Any word on who is playing Harriet Smith in the movie she’s not on the list and she is an important character. What about mr. elton?
