Neil Marshall’s (Dog Soldiers, The Descent) new movie, Centurion, set during the Roman invasion of Britain in 117 AD, is based on the legend of the Ninth Legion, an army of 3000 unstoppable Roman warriors who are said to have vanished without a trace, although recent research has uncovered references to the whereabouts of at least part of them.
The story is focused on the conflict between the Ninth and the defiant Picts, following Quintus Dias’ (Michael Fassbender), a Roman corporal, capture by the Pict King, Gorlacon, the legion is charged with freeing him and ending Pict domination of Britain. Led by General Virilus (Dominic West) and guided by a Pict prisoner and warrior woman named Etain (Olga Kurylenko), the army enters enemy territory with no absolutely no idea what’s in store for them.
A release date hasn’t been set yet, though we know it will probably be out late this year, in the mean time shooting continues in Surrey and Scotland. Below you’ll find three movie shots and a Behind the Scenes teaser trailer, be sure to check out Aaron Sneddon’s on set photos if you want to see more.

This one must have many gory details! Neil Marshal loves to show blood and guts. ;-) I’ll see it for sure, especially with Michael Fassbender in the cast. :P
I’d love to more of the history behind it – I don’t think I’ll truly appreciate it unless I do. But it sounds fascinating.
