After a couple of weeks working in our new house, we are ready to open the doors!
Welcome everyone to the revamped Lights, Camera… History! We hope you’ll feel at home as much as you did in our previous house.

To celebrate this occasion, we decided to do a little giveaway: Young Victoria with Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend. We watched this movie a few weeks ago and we really enjoyed it, you can read our review here.

Young Victoria dvd cover

Remember this will be a pre-order since the DVD is only released the 13th July in the UK.

To participate you only need to comment and tell us who is your favorite period drama couple.  Comments without an answer will not be considered.  Also remember to leave a valid email. If after 48h the winner doesn’t give any signs of life, we’ll choose another person.

This giveaway is open worldwide and it will end the 6th July by midnight GTM.

Good luck to everyone!

Oh my GOSH! The new blog is gorgeous! Down to every little detail!

No doubt my favorite is John Thornton & Margret Hale!

Marg June 29, 2009 at 10:49 am

Gorgeous new digs girls! Another vote for John Thornton and Margaret Hale from North and South here.

Janicu June 29, 2009 at 10:50 am

Really like the new website!
OK, favorite couple is Lucy and George from A Room With A View. :)

Charleybrown June 29, 2009 at 11:26 am

Wow!
I was just wondering yesterday when we would get to see the new and improved Lights, Camera…History! You kept us waiting long enough! It looks amazing!!!

Ana O. June 29, 2009 at 12:23 pm

Welcome to our new home girls, we’re glad you like it! :-)
Oh and good luck with the giveaway.

Alex June 29, 2009 at 1:28 pm

Welcome ladies! We’re really happy to know you like our new look. :)

Abbi June 29, 2009 at 1:45 pm

Although this isn’t very original, I have to say that John Thornton and Margaret Hale are also my favorite couple. :-)

Chandra Bashara June 29, 2009 at 2:50 pm

Great new look!

My favorite is Lady Jane Grey (Helena Bonham Carter) and Guilford Dudley (Cary Elwes). No doubt it was a way overly romanticized version of the true events, but I still love it as a fictional romance!

Anorthite June 29, 2009 at 3:10 pm

Hi guys! I’m so excited for your new website. I’ve missed your posts.
Of course I’d have to say Margaret Hale and John Thornton. I just love North and South. Also, I realize this isn’t exactly a period piece drama, but it’s old – I love Nick and Nora Charles in the Thin Man series.

Madrigal June 29, 2009 at 4:37 pm

My favourite couple Is Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester. The new house looks wonderfull!! Congratulations!!

Ana T June 29, 2009 at 4:43 pm

Hi all and welcome!! We hope you enjoy the new blog and we’re looking forward to chatting about movies and series with you all. :-)

Susi June 29, 2009 at 5:13 pm

I didn’t know the old site, but this one certainly looks GREAT! A job well done.

Well, going by books, I’d say Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy, but adaptation-wise, it’s going to be Margaret Hale and Mr. John Thornton – the serial (North and South, as many have already said) is simply so amazing and I’m never going to get tired of it (even after having already watched it about a gazillion times).

Fantasma June 29, 2009 at 5:36 pm

Congratulations on the new look! :)
As you know I don’t know that many historical couples but maybe I can join the giveaway too… even though I can’t decide between Margaret Hale and Mr. Thornton or Jane Eyre and Rochester – do I drool more for Richard Armitage or Toby Stephens?? ;)
My vote goes to Jane and Rochester :)

Kylene June 29, 2009 at 6:02 pm

What a difficult question! Lucy and George from A Room with a View, but maybe that’s just because I’ve watched it most recently?
The new website looks great!

Sandy (Strlady) June 29, 2009 at 6:26 pm

Welcome to your new home!
I have an affinity to the regency era, so my favorites will always be Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy, coming close second would be Emma and Mr. Knightley.

Kristen June 29, 2009 at 8:15 pm

One of my favorite couples (that haven’t been mentioned yet) is Molly and Roger from Wives and Daughters. They are both such wonderful characters.
Thanks for the drawing, and your new website is very nice!

Amy @ Passages to the Past June 29, 2009 at 11:45 pm

Love the site girls – very classy and gorgeous! My fav couple would be Eleanor & Edward from Sense & Sensibility.

Please sign me up for this great giveaway!

I started following you on Google Reader, so I don’t miss a single post!

My favorite is fanny and edmund from Mansfield Park, but probably because I have an inexplicable thing for Jonny Lee Miller.

Judi mh June 30, 2009 at 1:29 am

Oh so many favorites, but my first inclination is Darcy & Elizabeth, but then I think with Anne Elliott & Captain Wentworth and very close second. Love the new look!

Teddy June 30, 2009 at 5:44 am

I love your new look, it is quite stunning!

My favorite couple is Scarlett and Rhett Butler.

Evangeline June 30, 2009 at 6:44 am

Mercedes and Edmund from the 2002 version of The Count of Monte Cristo!

Aylwen June 30, 2009 at 7:59 am

I have many couples that I love from period dramas, but the couple that managed to get me watching a movie three times in one day is from Twelfth Night – Toby Stephens (Duke Orsino) and Imogen Stubs (Viola).

Deepa June 30, 2009 at 9:45 am

Definitely Fitzwilliam Darcy & Lizzy Bennett from ‘Pride & Prejudice’ (1995), very closely followed by Mercedes & Edmond Dantes from ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ & also young Jolyon Forsyte with Irene Heron from ‘The Forsyte Saga’.

Dee June 30, 2009 at 10:19 am

Hey there,
Great to see your beautiful new site. You’ve clearly put a lot of work in to it and I’m sure that I speak for all your visitors when I say how much all that effort is appreciated.
It’s another vote for Margaret and John from me.

Charly June 30, 2009 at 12:18 pm

Beautiful new blog! (Only thing is it’s too wide for my screen, so I have to scroll all the time – but I really like the new look.)

Hard choice to pick my favorite couple…
Margaret and Thornton came to mind pretty soon, but also Jane Eyre and Rochester (but only the Ciaran Hinds version!) and then of course Anne Elliot and Cpt. Wentworth… and then there’s the doctor’s sweetheart in “Cranford” and of course Lucy and George from “A Room With a View”, and I could never forget Anne and Gilbert.
Well, but from the whole couple-dynamic point of view it’s a close one between N&S and Jane Eyre… well, okay, so I pick (to go with the flow) – and only for today – Margaret Hale and John Thornton. :)

Looking forward to more posts! :D

Claudia June 30, 2009 at 3:01 pm

Way to go, girls! I didn’t know the old blog, but this one is absolutely gorgeous!
Although it’s a tough question, I vote for Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester.

Amanda June 30, 2009 at 6:19 pm

Oh I’ve been dying to see this. And congratulations on your new site. It’s lovely! Hmmm…favorite period piece couple… Honestly I think it is Elizabeth and Darcy. Although since everyone’s been picking Margaret Hale and John THornton, I’m really going to have to read/watch N&S. Thanks!

WhiteLady June 30, 2009 at 8:37 pm

Wow! Wonderful layout! It’s really gorgeous!

I must say, I love Anne Elliot (Amanda Root) and Captain Wentworth (Ciarán Hinds). I can’t get enough of Persuasion. I must watch it at least once every three months. *blush*

Teresa AF July 1, 2009 at 12:00 am

Favorite? So many to choose from so I will pick one quickly before I over think it.

John Thornton and Margaret Hale.

Sandi July 1, 2009 at 6:08 am

I vote Molly and Roger!!!

Daphne G. July 1, 2009 at 6:28 pm

I was going to say, without question, Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy (with Colin Firth) but I had forgotten for a moment about John Thornton and Margaret Hale and truly moving their love story is. The final scene where she takes his hand had so much depth of emotion, I kept watching it over and over. North and South may equal or even trump Pride and Prejudice as far as couples are concerned.

Cenoura July 2, 2009 at 2:52 pm

Well, like Fantasma I can’t decide between Margaret Hale and Mr. Thornton or Jane Eyre and Rochester (and can’t also forget Heathcliff and Cathy or Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy…)
Oh boy, is very difficult to decide but I will vote for Hale and Thornton.
Way to go, girls! The new look/bloog is beautiful. Really gorgeous. Keep on! I will be around.
PS- Thank you for the giveaway.

Lucy July 3, 2009 at 8:31 pm

I have to vote for Iris Moss and Father Melia from Lilies, because it’s such an overlooked series. Please review it on the blog!!!

I only found this site a few days ago, but I’m already obsessed… so many period dramas, so little time.

Alex July 3, 2009 at 9:37 pm

Lucy,
Welcome to our site! I loved Lilies and I was very sad when I learned BBC wasn’t planning to do a 2nd season. I’m sure we’ll have a review of the series very soon.;-)

Ale July 4, 2009 at 10:03 am

I’ll have to say Margaret Hale and John Thornton from North and South.

ps.: great site :)

Lucy July 4, 2009 at 5:45 pm

Yay! Thanks Alex, that’s great news.

Lisa July 6, 2009 at 12:22 am

My favorite couple is Henry Tilney and Catherine Moreland from Northanger Abbey. This is the first I’ve seen of your blog, but it looks wonderful! Going to participate in your movie challenge.

Sarah July 6, 2009 at 7:47 am

I love the new look! Simply beautiful!

I have to say my favorite couple would be Elizabeth & Mr. Darcy. I love them as individuals to start with–Lizzie with her witty, fun, and teasing spirit; Darcy for his loyal, faithful, and tender nature.

I love how they both allowed themselves to be changed and molded for the better by the other, though sometimes difficult to deal with or admit. They were alike in that they were stubborn, but different in that Lizzie spoke her mind quite easily, Darcy not so much. But when they both spoke their minds, beautiful sparks flew–pride was set to fire via a heart that became bewitched by fine eyes and refreshing vivacity; prejudice was slowly torn down by loyalty, kindness, and a deep and earnest love that was never trifled with. <3

Laura July 6, 2009 at 6:18 pm

This is my first time to your website so I can’t compare layouts, but this one is quite lovely either way! :)
I have many favourite period drama couples, notably Jane&Rochester, Jane&Bingley,Lizzy&Darcy, Catherine Moreland&Henry Tilney, Margaret&Thornton, Elinor&Edward…However, I’m going to be original and say that it’s a tie between Molly & Roger from Wives and Daughters and Rose & Neil from I Capture the Castle :).

Jane July 6, 2009 at 11:09 pm

G’Day (typical Australian – non period – greeting) Ana, Ana and Alex.

How charmed I am to be here in your other-worldly – diary. It is too kind of you to invite me.
Sadly I took a fall and our kind Doctor from Highbury has given instructiopns to Knightly that I – I must rest. Mr Knightly chided me regarding my failure to – to heed his warning and walk out when the ground was so wet. I must confess – oh I must – he looks so handsome when he is stern -:”badly done Emma” he frowned.

Later I was want to take a gentle turn about the garden but Mr Woodhouse – my own dear papa – insisted I would catch a chill and be swept away before e’en a sennight has passed. Thus I passed the days inside before the fire.
But what is a turn through the shrubbery when there are such friends to be met; for the new novel of Miss Jane Austen arrived at Fords.

My dearest- oh so dearest – Knightly was visiting Miss Bates – she is always so delighted to see him, speaking of the priveledge – honour in her humble whisper – when he happened upon Mrs Elton all a buzz with the news.
He thought only of my harsh restrictions and how my heart would sore. And thus it did, My Knightly is too too kind.

Ladies, if you will excuse me I must – I so very am obliged to you – the tea tray has arrived.

Adieu
