Fans of cinema set in Asia will be pleased to know the book Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See is going to be adapted to the big screen.

The story is set in the 19th century rural China and tells us the life of Lily and her friendship with Snow Flower. The two girls immediately create a strong bong between them, one that will last their entire life. We follow their struggle with the rigid society rules and the slow and painful process of footbinding. We truly hope the movie will be as exciting and beautiful as Lisa See’s story.

Directed and adapted by Wayne Wang (The Joy Club and Maid in Manhattan) and starring the beautiful Zhang Ziyi (she is also producer), the shooting is expected to start in China in 2010.

oh yes, I will definitely watch this. Love Asian (not Bollywood) films and have enjoyed the lead actress so far.
Looking forward to it.
