Some more news about the cinematographic adaptation of Lisa See’s novel, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. Zhang Ziyi is no longer part of the cast and production after some different views with the rest of the production team. Li Bingbing is now taking the leading role along with the Korean actress Gianna Jun.
The most surprising new is that Hugh Jackman is also part of the cast. Normally, we would be delighted to know this but we cannot remember any Caucasian male lead in this story or are we missing something? To those who read the novel, do you make any sense of Jackman’s participation in this movie?

Uh-oh! There definitely weren’t any caucasion characters in Snow Flower. These kinds of changes don’t seem to bode all that well for the movie in my opinion.

I had no idea they were making this into a movie. This has to be one of my favorite novels ever ! Not sure how Hugh Jackman is going to fit in anywhere !
I wonder if this was one of the different views that Zhang Ziyi quit over? I hope they’re not trying to fit a western character into the movie just to appeal to a western audience.
uh oh … Hugh Jackman in an asian film? can’t see that turning out well… but I am looking forward to the movie.
