A few weeks ago we talked about Bertrand Tavernier’s new movie, The Princess de Montpensier. The movie was presented a couple of days ago at Cannes and earned many positive reviews becoming one of the favorites for the “Palme d’Or”. The release date in France is scheduled for the 10th November and meanwhile we wanted to share some excerpts:

Thank you so much for the lovely clips/stills of the film! I’m eager to see it but I’m surprised that it’s actually been getting middling or even negative reviews after its premiere at cannes. I hope its better than those reviews let on because it looks like a gorgeous film
I suspect that it is not the kind of film that reviews like. As in it isn’t modern and realist or macho and violent. In fact in all the coverage I have read of Cannes I have not even come across a mention of it, which I think says alot about the critics. (ie male.)
Cheers
Janette
I read some good reviews and also some who were almost nasty. Everyone seems to agree that the movie is beautiful, but some criticize its slowness, while others praise the movie for it… If I remember correctly, the reviews for The Daughter of D’Artagnan were not great either and I really enjoyed the movie.
